Daily inspection of drill pipe sealing components is the foundation of maintenance. Before and after each construction, workers need to check whether the sealing rings at the drill pipe joints are intact. If the sealing rings are found to have cracks, deformation or aging, they should be replaced with ones of the same model in a timely manner to prevent mud from leaking through the sealing gaps, which would affect the negative pressure suction effect. At the same time, check whether there are residual sand and sediment impurities in the sealing grooves; if there are any, clean them up with special tools to avoid the impurities abrading the sealing rings.
Lubrication and maintenance of the sealing components cannot be ignored. Special grease should be applied to the sealing surfaces of the drill pipe joints every week. This grease can reduce the frictional wear between the sealing rings and the drill pipe, extend the service life of the sealing components, and at the same time enhance the sealing effect to prevent mud from invading the sealing area. Before applying the grease, it is necessary to ensure that the sealing surfaces are dry and clean to avoid the grease mixing with impurities and affecting the lubrication effect.
Sealing protection during long-term storage is also crucial. If the RC drill rig is out of service for more than a week, the drill pipes should be disassembled, and the surface of the sealing components should be wrapped with a waterproof protective film to prevent moisture in the air from causing aging of the sealing rings. At the same time, store the disassembled drill pipes in a dry and well-ventilated area, avoiding direct sunlight or rain soaking, to ensure that the sealing components can function normally when used next time without delaying the construction progress.
